Abstract of the Lecture:

“Western perceptions of education in Asia and the ‘new’ comparative paradigm” is basically going to be critically analyzing international “league tables” of educational performance - e.g. the PISA tests in which Shanghai does so well - and looking at their influence on educational debates in the West.

  

Brief Introduction of the Lecturer

Paul Morris, Professor at Institute of Education, University of London. Prior to joining the IOE in 2007 he worked in Hong Kong from 1976 where he was Dean of the Faculty of Education at the University of Hong Kong from 1986 to 1993 and President of the Hong Kong Institute of Education from 2002.
