Abstract of the Lecture:
Terrorism is seen as one of the biggest challenges in the 21st century. Cheung Chui Yung has visited several terrorist groups in the eyes of the west such as Hisbollah, Hamas and The Islamic Jihad etc, with the hope to deconstruct terrorism and its picture as well as its root behind the scene. At the same time, Cheung has also witnessed the other war on terrorism, which comes from the global civil society but without weapons and not motivated by hatred. Although western media may be more interested in the big power war game on terrorism, yet the effectiveness of the civil society anti- terrorism movement cannot be ignored. Cheung is bringing their stories to the campus to let us rethink the implication of war and peace in our society today.
