Abstract of the Lecture:
Since R. Niebuhr published the Nature and Destine of Man in 1943, American political theology has turned round Augustine’s realism, and even theologians respond to Rawl’s Theory of Justine with Augustine tradition. This lecture will review this development and analysis positive and negative meanings of Augustinian realism.
Brief Introduction of the Lecturer:
Dr. Stephen Chan joined Seattle University in 1996 as an Associate Professor of Religious Studies. Born in Taiwan, grew up in Hong Kong, Professor Chan received his Ph.D. in theology from the University of Chicago Divinity School. He is academic member of American Academy of Religion, Calvin Society, and Institute of Sino-Christian Studies.
