Abstract of the Lecture:

Since the 19th century, the development and evolution of western literature has mostly manifested itself in “literary trends” or “literary movements” which ran against traditions. A comprehensive and thorough study on the 19th century western literary trends will not only be helpful for our understanding of the 19th century western literature, but also conducive to our exploration of the modernist and postmodernist movements in the 20th century.
