Abstract of the Lecture:

It has long been acknowledged that the fact, amount and uneven distribution of suffering raises problems for religious belief. This lecture will examine every family of response to the problem of suffering within Christian theology. It will explore the strengths and weaknesses of each approach, and it will then go on to suggest a way of responding to the problem of suffering which, Dr. Lloyd believes, avoids many of the weaknesses inherent in other approaches.
