Abstract of the Lecture:

Racism has always been an important subject in international academia particularly in relation to such discussions as on imperialism, colonialism, genocide and holocaust, as well as nationalism and ethnicity. But racism has long been overlooked by academic discussions in China. The concepts and theories of racism and their relationship with modern Western intellectual history have never been explored and explained. There might have a few research articles but no substantial monographs ever produced. This lecture attempts to draw a sketch of racism, its history and its relationship with some major intellectual/historical trends in modern world history to illustrate its significance.
